Pizza Hut is the name of a restaurant chain in the United States, owned by Yum! Brands, being today the largest pizza chain in the world with over 12,500 restaurants in 100 countries worldwide.
In Romania, Pizza Hut was launched in 1994 with a restaurant in Bucharest (at the Howard Johnson Grand Plaza ground floor of the former Hotel Dorobanti, near Piata Romana), and today there are 14 restaurants in the country. Of these, six are in Bucharest, two in Constanta, two in Cluj-Napoca and one in Timisoara, Iasi, Sibiu, Bacau and Ploiesti and Brasov.
Pizza Hut operates in Romania through a franchise company owned by American Restaurant System, belonging to businessman Puiu Popoviciu. In 2008 Pizza Hut has a turnover of 10 mil. Euro, 11% more than in 2007.
In 2007, it opened the first Pizza Hut Delivery unit in Romania, and at the end of 2011 there were 8 units PHD in Bucharest.
